On September 27 was the opening of the new house of the Estonian Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. Director General gave in his welcoming speech a brief overview about the earlier locations of Estonian weather service.
Congratulations were given by Estonian Minister of Environment – Villu Reiljan and Director General of the EUMETSAT – Lars P. Prahm, also Deputy Director General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute – Mikko Alestalo and Director General of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service – Vida Auguliene. Among the congratulators there were also WMO expert Leo Rannaleet, who counseled our weather service after the independence of Estonia and also the former Director General Peeter Karing.
With good wishes stepped up several long-term collaborator partners from media, aviation, maritime affairs, energetic and education and science establishments ect. The reminder of the opening of the new house for us will always be a Toringo apple tree, which was planted into the city park next the house.
